March 2nd 2008 will go down in Indian Cricket history as one of the golden days. Beating Australia is no mean feat. But beating Australia in Australia in one of finals taht too comfortably is something all Indian cricket lovers can be proud of. And Sone pe suhaga, India won Under 19 world cup beating South Africa in Malyasia on the same day.
And is there a Jalandhar connection. Well there is more than one. Harbhajan Singh had already brought laurels to Jalandhar and every Jalandhari can be proud of him. I especially love him as I might have hit him for six (maybe I am dreaming) in Gali cricket as he only lives a few block of houses in Daulatpuri from my ancestral place. I personally can not remember playing with him but my childhood friends convince me he was part of Gali cricket scene the same time we were. Well he is a hero and role model to so many youunsters especially Jalandharies. He definately played a big part in India seniors win.
But now we have another emerging Jalandhari Cricket star " Taruvar Kohli". The opening star batsman of U-19 team. He was the star of the tournament.
Well Jalandhar is truly a "City of Sports" . Earlier Jalandhar contributed so much to Indian Hockey, now we are proud of Cricket stars too not to mention WWE star "Khlai" and sports equipment industry is already well known.
Best wishes to our beloved "Bhajji" and Taruvar Kohli. Write your wishes and congratulations in comments section below.
